Supply Chain Optimiser

The Supply Chain Optimiser plans across the whole chain rather than one leg at a time. It matches demand and usage signals to stock, transport modes and site capacity to decide what moves, when and by which route, choosing the combination of port, rail, road and depot options that lowers total delivered cost while keeping service commitments intact.

Key features

  • Whole-chain planning: Port, rail, road, depot and warehouse options are weighed together, so a saving on one leg is not lost to extra cost or delay on the next.
  • Demand matched to stock: Forecasts, bookings and usage signals are matched against stock on hand and in transit to decide what needs to move and when.
  • Mode and route selection: Road, rail and combined options are compared on cost, transit time and available capacity for each movement.
  • Real capacity constraints: Plans respect the actual capacity of sites, yards and warehouses, together with available train services and fleet, so the result can be carried out.
  • Container and stock positioning: Empty containers and stock are positioned where they will next be needed, reducing repositioning moves and short-notice expedites.
  • Scenario comparison: Options such as a disrupted service, a new customer contract or a change of site can be compared side by side, with the trade-off between cost, service and risk shown before anything is committed.
  • Your people stay in control: The optimiser proposes and explains its reasoning, and planners decide which plan goes ahead. The accepted plan is written back to WaveSCM.

Benefits

  • Lower total delivered cost: Decisions are made on the cost of the whole chain, not of each leg in isolation.
  • Stock where it is actually needed: Fewer shortages, fewer emergency moves and less stock sitting in the wrong place.
  • Trade-offs made visible: Cost, service and risk are shown before a plan is committed to, giving a defensible basis for the decision.
  • Better use of existing assets: More out of the sites, services and fleet you already have.
